Filandia is one of the winners of the Best Tourist Village 2023 program of the World Tourism Organization, an annual contest promoted by this international organization to recognize the Best Rural Tourism Towns around the world and which granted this recognition to Cerro Iluminado del Quindío among 260 candidates from more than 60 countries.

To nominate Colombian destinations for this contest, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism opened a call in May, where 38 applications were received and 8 municipalities were nominated to participate and finally only 2 were selected by the UNWTO (Filandia, Quindío and Zapatoca, Santander) for having characteristics that highlight cultural wealth, nature and its commitment to social, economic and environmental sustainability in its territories.

The departmental government highlighted this great news for all the inhabitants of the 'Heart of Colombia' and where it seeks to ensure that high-value tourism continues to strengthen and contribute to the economic and social development of all Quindians.
