Tourism for events and businesses has increased the visit of foreigners in the Coffee Region
According to the latest report delivered by the Colombian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies - Anato, visits for business meetings and business have increased in Colombia by 57% during the first period of the year with reference to 2022, being the Coffee Axis one of the regions with the greatest potential and the Asian tourist who generates the most foreign currency in this sector.
For Sara Cristina Arias Loaiza, president of Anato chapter Eje Cafetero, this region of the country presents great advantages by having a varied offer in a space that is easy to access and close, supported by the decentralization of destinations that are no longer focused on the main cities. from the country.
“We have received information from Immigration about the increase in visits from Asians. What we are contributing at this moment, taking into account that we have the places to hold these types of events, is the connectivity to be able to bring and increase that international tourism; Our main opportunity is that in addition to meeting and business tourism, it can be expanded to get to know everything the region has to offer; In one weekend you can visit Quindío, Caldas and Risaralda, three small regions with a very complete offer,” highlighted the union leader.
One of the problems that currently arise and that competes with the increase in visitors, is the deficit that still exists in air connectivity, a situation that seeks to be counteracted with attractive tourist plans that include diversity of climates, cultural attractions and great wealth. and gastronomic variety, to exceed the figures that were in 2019, compared to which a threshold of minus 31% is still maintained.
